Semantic layering and the success of mathematical sciences

چکیده
What are the pillars on which success of modern science rest? Although philosophers have much discussed what is behind science’s success, this paper argues that discussion misdirected. The extant literature rightly regards semantic and inferential tools formal logic probability theory as scientific rationality, in sense they reveal justificatory structure important aspects practice. As key elements our rational reconstruction toolbox, make a fundamental contribution to understanding science. At same time, any science, however exact, dominated by approximation, error, uncertainty, fact makes one wonder how can be so successful. This articulates illustrates general themes—e.g., truth-preserving arguments often fail preserve approximate truth—that highlight need for additional resources. Thus, proposal persistent failures unravel reasons face pervasive error uncertainty should attributed an insufficiently rich way rationally reconstructing mathematical knowledge. missing? claims there third method reasoning constitutes distinct pillar rests namely, perturbation theory. outlines representational differ from those theory, enable us understand apparently elusive However, compared its peers, perturbative has not received attention it deserves. explains, partly results circumstances taught, first appears vaguely related collection methods offering no systematic insight. In attempt show impression wrong, presents dimension representation inference terms I call “semantic layering.”

15 صفحه اولon the comparison of keyword and semantic-context methods of learning new vocabulary meaning
the rationale behind the present study is that particular learning strategies produce more effective results when applied together. the present study tried to investigate the efficiency of the semantic-context strategy alone with a technique called, keyword method. to clarify the point, the current study seeked to find answer to the following question: are the keyword and semantic-context metho...

15 صفحه اولa frame semantic approach to the study of translating cultural scripts in salingers franny and zooey
the frame semantic theory is a nascent approach in the area of translation studies which goes beyond the linguistic barriers and helps us to incorporate cognitive and cultural factors to the study of translation. based on rojos analytical model (2002b), which centered in the frames or knowledge structures activated in the text, the present research explores the various translation problems that...
15 صفحه اولSemantic Network Layering
The stack in various forms[1] has been widely used as an architectural template for networking systems. Recently the stack has been subject to criticism for a lack of flexibility. However, when it comes right down to it nobody has offered a truly compelling alternative. Various “cross-layer” optimizations have been proposed, but these optimizations are frequently hacks to achieve a particular g...
